CCTV
CCTV is the term is most often applied to those used for electronic video surveillance in areas that may need monitoring such as offices, warehouses, convenience stores, banks, casinos, airports, and military installations. In industrial plants, CCTV equipment may be used to observe parts of a process from a central control room, for example when the environment is not suitable for humans. CCTV systems may operate continuously or only as required to monitor a particular event. The most advanced form of CCTV, utilizing Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) or Network Video Recorders (NVRs), provides recording for possibly many months, with a variety of quality and performance options and extra features (such as motion-detection and email alerts). More recently, decentralized IP-based CCTV cameras, some equipped with megapixel sensors, support recording directly to network-attached storage devices, or internal flash for completely stand-alone operation.
DVR- Rack Mountable Digital Video Recorder. Records 4-32 analog cameras. Single or 2 hard drives to record video with H.264 compression, Maximum resolution records D1- (780x480) per camera. Zoom features on a DVR can make the camera image blurry. Built in web browser allows users to access live video from Computers or Mobile devices
Analog Cameras- Analog cameras can be fixed or varifocal & deliver up to 620 TVL resolution. Cameras can inexpensively integrate infrared (IR) LED’s to see in complete darkness. WDR style cameras do a good job of seeing in different lighting conditions- example- indoor camera looking directly at an outside door or window. Wiring is RG59 coax for video & 18/2 for power. Power- Separate 12V or 24V power supply needed for cameras. Power supply can be rack-mounted style.
NVR- Rack Mountable Network Video Recorder or NVR software loaded on a sufficient Windows computer. Records 1 to unlimited IP cameras. Multiple hard drives to record video with H.264 compression. Maximum resolution records 20MP- (5960x3352) per camera! Zoom features on an NVR make the image better. Built in web browser allows users to access live AND RECORDED video from Computers or Mobile devices. Additional IP license fee may be required to record additional IP cameras. A single license for a megapixel (MP) camera can provide potentially several high quality individual shots.
IP Cameras IP cameras can be fixed or varifocal & deliver up to 10MP (3648x2752) resolution each! IP cameras do a fair job of seeing in different lighting conditions- ex. indoor camera looking directly at an outside door. Wiring is cat5e or cat6. Power-Rack Mount PoE switch can provide data (video) connection & power.
